A series of natural disasters and droughts have pushed the world’s wheat price upwards, in the US and particularly Ohio our food security is sound, but the state may need to play a part in supplying the world with wheat in the coming months or even years.
Ohio farmers will begin planting their winter wheat around October time for harvest in the spring, but they will in all likelihood need to plant more in order to meet the global demand that has spiraled on the back of a bad year for natural disasters that have out global wheat production down by an estimated 4%.
